    American Wigeon / Mareca americana

    : Non-breeding. on freshwater late May-Aug, mostly single, presumably unpaired males.

    : on freshwater mid Mar-mid Apr when often in pairs, with to mid May and again late Oct-early Dec. on inshore saltwater.

    : Dec-Feb, mostly single males wintering with flocks of Mallards and American Black Ducks sustained with supplemental feeding.

    Miscellany: Adult males have a white forehead and crown which has led to the species' alternate and still widely used name, "Baldpate."
