Migration
:
Casual
early Apr-late May with
outliers
to early Jun, and again late Aug-early Oct with
outliers
to mid Oct. There are a scattering of records mid Jun-mid Aug but breeding has not been confirmed or even suspected; these birds are likely to be post breeding
wanderers
.
Miscellany: In the 1930s and 1940s, Black-crowns nested in several places around MDI including the Porcupine Islands and Little Duck Island but those colonies disappeared around 1950 and the species has remained
casual
since then.
