    Black-headed Gull / Chroicocephalus ridibundus

: . In Jun 1985, a pair briefly inhabited a territory on Petit Manan Island but didn't nest. The following year, again in early Jun, a single adult reappeared, built a nest and laid an egg. It later abandoned the nest. The egg was collected and proved to be infertile. One record Jun 7, 2015 on Ship Island in Blue Hill Bay

: late Oct-mid Mar with from late Aug and to early Jun. The most recent record is Oct 19, 2019 from Schoodic Point in a migrating group of Bonaparte's Gulls.

Miscellany: From the late 1970s to the late 1980s, one or two Black-headed Gulls occurred every few years in the gull hoards that gathered around the sardine processing plant in Prospect Harbor. With the shutdown of the canneries, and the disappearance of their attendant waste, most of the gulls including Black-headed went elsewhere.
