    Black-throated Green Warbler / Setophaga virens

    : Breeds. to mid May-late Jul in mature spruce-fir woods and to a lesser degree wherever conifers are found.

    : from early May, with a mid/late May peak and from mid Apr, and mid-Aug to late Sep with a mid/late Sep peak and to late Oct.

    Miscellany: When male Black-throated Greens first arrive in spring, and until they and their partners have a nest with eggs, the males sing a fast ‘accented' song ‘zee-zee-zee-zo-zee' with the ‘zo' lower pitched. Listen here. Later they sing a lazy slow song. Listen here.
