Miscellany: In April when strong southerly airflows can span much of the east coast, three species - Indigo Bunting, Summer Tanager and Blue Grosbeak - are well known for overflying their normal breeding range and scattering themselves north to the Canadian Maritimes. These birds are almost always young males undertaking their first north, distinguished as such by distinctive plumage elements.
