: mostly diurnal migrant, sometimes in flocks of more than 20, mid/late May and again late Sep-mid Oct. We know little about the source of these birds but they are thought to be mostly young, leaving in fall and returning the following spring.
Miscellany: Blue Jays are a cheerily noisy part of the local scene except when they're breeding at which time they become stealthy and almost undetectable.
