    Blue Jay / Cyanocitta cristata

    : . Breeds May-Jul in deciduous and mixed woodlands throughout. Most frequent in towns and villages.

    : mid/late May and again late Sep-mid Oct, mostly during the day. We know little about the source of these birds but they are thought to be mostly young, leaving in fall and returning the following spring.

    Miscellany: Blue Jays are a cheerily noisy part of the local scene except when they're breeding at which time they become stealthy and almost undetectable.
