    Bohemian Waxwing / Bombycilla garrulous

: and mid/late Oct-mid Apr with in flight years to late Apr/early May. In some years first appearance can be in Jan. In some years they're absent. Towns with concentrations of berry-bearing trees and shrubs are their favored haunts.

Miscellany: The Bohemians that show up on Mt Desert have swept east, probably from northwestern North America, in flocks from a few individuals to many hundreds in search of sugary fruits to sustain them through the winter. Almost every shrub or tree with fruit, however hidden it may seem, will be discovered. They'll remain in an area until such food has been exhausted and then move on. Usually found in single species flocks but can mix with Cedar Waxwings.
