    Bufflehead / Bucephala albeola

: to mid/late Oct-early Apr, with from early Oct and to early Jun, on sheltered bays and coves. Occurs on fresh water, often in pairs, after spring ice-out. No confirmed records mid Jun-late Sep.

Miscellany: Bufflehead is one of the few ducks to keep the same mate for multiple years, and the females return year after year to the same nest site, often an old Northern Flicker nest hole.
