: mid May-early Jun with from late Apr and mid Aug-late Sep with to mid Oct. There are as well a scattering of records from July, probably non or unsuccessful breeders departing the nesting grounds early. The majority of our mainland sightings are from Schoodic Point and the eastern side of MDI, and involve one to three individuals. A remarkable seven were Bass Harbor Marsh, May 6, 2025, with at least four remaining May 7. over freshwater Apr 30, 2020 at the Breakneck Ponds.
Miscellany: Spring movement northeast to the small colonies in Newfoundland and Quebec, probably and virtually undetected. Southbound movement is slower and regularly involves single adults with one or two juveniles in tow.
