Miscellany: The single Common Murre chick weighing less than a quarter of their adult weight departs its nesting islands in the company of its father with whom it remains for one to two months. During this time they may swim considerable distances to more favorable feeding grounds. One such father/chick combo has been seen in our area, Aug 14, 1995 on a Bar Harbor whale watch cruise to Mount Desert Rock.
