    Common Raven / Corvus corax

    Miscellany: Common Raven is the largest Passerine, the vast bird family that includes all those we think of as songbirds, and one of the most widely distributed bird species worldwide north of the Tropic of Cancer They often travel around in pairs, widely spaced but communicating via an array of calls, some croaking, others musical. One pioneering pair attempted to nest, ultimately unsuccessful, in the boathouse on Mount Desert Rock, more than 10 miles from the nearest land.
