Miscellany: A warm water species, unrecorded before the mid 1970s, Cory's Shearwater has become increasing regular in small numbers as Gulf of Maine waters warmed. In 2018, an observer on Mt. Desert Rock recorded them on 28 of 70 days, with a maxima of 33 on Aug 1. Scopoli's' Shearwater, Calonectris borealis, recently split from Cory's Shearwater, has been reported once, Aug 6, 2017; that record is being reviewed by the .
