Migration
:
Rare
mid May-early Jun with most records from
offshore
islands, and
uncommon
early Sep-early Nov with
outliers
from early Aug and to mid Nov. Most likely to be seen in broad expanses of mud such as are found at low tide at the
Mount Desert Narrows
. No records late Nov-early May but birds have been seen just outside our area at Marlboro Beach and Trenton into Jan-Feb.
Miscellany: Most spring migrant Dunlins migrate overland to our west. Fall migration largely passes over us as other than the Mount Desert Narrows, we lack the favored non-rocky intertidal habitat.
