: mid Apr-early Jun with a peak mid May and from late Mar and to mid Jun, and mid Jul-late Oct with a peak late Aug/early Sep and from early Jul and to late Nov. It's our most widely distributed non-breeding shorebird occurring on salt water mud flats and rocky bars exposed by low tides and tidal marshes throughout, and on fresh water lakes and ponds with muddy margins.
Miscellany: Greater Yellowlegs are often solitary but will gather in loose groups around an abundant food source. They are detected often by their ringing call. Listen here.
