    Harlequin Duck / Histrionicus histrionicus

: Non-breeding. mid Jun-late Oct, mostly female-looking birds around islands and perhaps especially those with Common Eider colonies.

: Complex. early Nov-early May around a few mostly inaccessible rocky islands, with from early Oct and to early Jun. Otherwise . in the region Oct 13-17, 2021. No records from freshwater.

Miscellany: Up to half of the western Atlantic population of Harlequin Ducks, perhaps as many as 500 birds, winter off the southeast part of Isle au Haut and around other small rocky islands east to Petit Manan Island. This population appears to be moving slowly north and east as the local waters warm.

In recent years, a small flock has wintered off Little Moose Island in Arey Cove on the southeast side of Schoodic Peninsula and a few are seen occasionally at Schoodic Point.
