Migration: in small flocks and singles early Mar-mid Apr with from late Feb and to late Apr, and again mid Oct-late Nov with from early Sep and to late Dec. They frequent bare ground and are most regular on infrequently birded mountain tops and islands. The Bar Harbor airport just outside our area is a reliable location. Horned Larks are diurnal migrants and detectable anywhere by calls from birds flying overhead.
