: usually in small flocks early Mar-mid Apr with from late Feb and to late Apr, and again mid Oct-late Nov with from early Sep and to late Dec. They frequent bare ground and are probably most regular on mountain tops or islands. Horned Larks are diurnal migrants and detectable anywhere by calls from birds flying overhead.
