    House Sparrow / Passer domesticus

    : in Bar Harbor and in other towns and villages. away from human habitation. Not known to migrate.

    Miscellany: All of our countless House Sparrows originated from a small number released in New York in the early 1850s and some additional introductions in later years, including ones in Salt Lake City, UT and San Francisco, CA in the early 1870s. Usually considered a nuisance or a pest, House Sparrows are nonetheless an admirably tough and adaptable species.
