    Miscellany: Iceland Gulls used to be routine Nov-Mar at active local fish packing plants. These have been closed since the 1990s so wintering birds are now dispersed. The Iceland Gull subspecies in our area is kumlieni. Neither of the other two subspecies, thayeri and glaucoides has been recorded.
