Migration/Winter
:
Casual
late Oct-mid Apr with
outliers
from early Oct and to late May. Frequents open areas, sometimes in the company of Horned Larks or Snow Buntings. The majority of records are from mountain tops, the
exposed coast
and the
outer islands
.
Miscellany: Lapland Longspurs are
probably
overlooked given their cryptic plumage and ground hugging feeding behavior. They're likely regular during peak migration, late Oct-early Nov and perhaps again in late Mar/early Apr when observer effort is at a low ebb.
