: mid May-early Jun and early Jul-late Sep with a peak late Aug-early Sep and to mid Oct, in sizeable wet areas with muddy margins and with a preference for fresh or brackish water. Bass Harbor Marsh consistently holds a few birds during this periods.
Miscellany: Like many arctic breeding sandpipers, adults depart their breeding grounds (beginning late June) about a month before their young. The birds that occur in our area in fall may subsequently undertake a long over water flights via the Lesser Antilles to South America.
