    Lesser Yellowlegs / Tringa flavipes

Migration: late Apr-late May and - late Jul-early Sep, with a peak mid-late Aug and from early Jul to mid Oct.

Miscellany: Often confused with the larger, very similar looking Greater Yellowlegs, which it turns out is not its closest relative. At the moment, that honor belongs to the Willet. Prefers fresh and brackish ponds and marshes with shallow water and muddy margins such as Hamilton Pond, Bass Harbor Marsh and the Sand Beach pond.
