    Mexican Violetear / Colibri thalassinus

: Aug 18-19, 2007 in the town of Mount Desert.

Miscellany: When a large hummingbird from the central Mexico and northern Central America shows up in coastal Maine, the question of origin (wild or in some way human assisted) seems fair but in the case of Mexican Violetear, there are multiple records since 1990 scattered across the U.S. including eastern Canada, the Great Lakes region, New England and the mountains of North Carolina. Most are in the July-Oct period when our bird occurred.
