Miscellany: Northern Gannets numbers may be known better than any other common North American bird with the entire western Atlantic population nesting in six regularly censused colonies in eastern Canada. In 2021, these colonies accommodated just over 155,000 individuals. Most birds warm their eggs using highly vascularized breast tissue. Northern Gannets use their highly vascularized feet.
