: mid-late May and late Sep-late Oct, with from mid Sep and to early Dec. Prefers open areas with weeds and low shrubs and places where migrants gather
: with eight widely spaced records mid Dec-late Mar, except for three 2024/2025; Mt. Desert Dec 2, 2024 to Apr 11, 2025 and again Nov 28-Dec 21, 2025 (same location; possibly a returning bird) and Bar Harbor Mar 1, 2025, the later being present for some weeks prior to the above report. At least six spent multiple weeks at feeding stations.
Miscellany: Probably under reported, especially in fall, when passage comes at a time when few observers are in the field. Late Aug-early Sep records need to rule out the somewhat similar Tennessee Warbler. With generally warmer winters, we can expect an increase in the number wintering Orange-crowns.
