    Orchard Oriole / Icterus spurius

: early-mid May with from late Apr and to late May. early Jul-early Oct with most records from Mount Desert Rock.

Miscellany: Orchard Oriole breeds north to southern Maine and is one of a small set of more southerly landbirds that occur in spring as presumed migratory ‘overshoots' of their normal breeding range. All spring records but one are males, mostly second year males. Many of the spring birds end up at feeding stations. Jul-Oct birds, presumably mostly wandering young are difficult to detect being both dull yellow (both sexes), like a lot of fall birds, and skulking so they probably occur more often than the skimpy record would suggest.
