Miscellany: There have been about a dozen Pacific Loon reports in the last 20 years. Some of them are likely correct but only three come with supporting details. The species is now annual in Maine and should be looked for mid Oct-early Jun. A very similar Eurasian species, Arctic Loon (Gavia arctica), has not been recorded in the Northeastern US but should be borne in mind.
