: Non-breeding. and mid Jun-late Aug, almost always subadults. Not confirmed from the mainland.
: late May-early Jun and early Sep-mid Nov with likely to early/mid Dec or even later, were observers present to record them. No confirmed records from mainland observation points or from Frenchman or Blue Hill Bays.
Miscellany: The Bar Harbor whale watch vessels that visit offshore locations offer the only realistic public chance to see Pomarines.
Pomarine Jaegers are possibly unique among birds in that their successful breeding depends on a single resource, the Brown Lemming (or outside of North America, a close relative), and only once every three or four years when lemming numbers peak. If on return to their high arctic breeding areas, they find too few lemmings, they return quickly to the open oceans where they spend the rest of the year.
