Wanderer: early May-early Jun with from mid Apr, usually males near ponds, streams or fresh water marshes, and again late Aug-mid Sep, usually immatures at places where migrants concentrate. There is as well one early Oct and one early Nov record.
Miscellany: Prothonotary is a nester in southern New England and like many southeastern landbirds, their presence in our area in spring usually involves young males overshooting their breeding grounds, and in fall, immatures wandering or on misdirected migration.
