: late May-early Jun and again late Aug-late Sept, mostly from islands with a continuous observer presence such as Mount Desert Rock and Ship Island.
Miscellany: Up until the 1980s, Red Knots were a regular if minor presence among the shorebirds gathering on the Bar Harbor Bar. Now, even one would be remarkable.
