    Rose-breasted Grosbeak / Pheucticus ludovicianus

    : Breeds. from mid May primarily in mature and second growth deciduous woods as found along the west slope of Beech Hill and the area along the Park Loop Road between Eagle Lake and Jordan Pond.

    : early May-early Jun with a peak mid-late May and from early Apr (see https://ebird.org/checklist/S126147907), and again late Aug-early Oct with a peak early-mid Sep and from early Aug to late Nov. Widespread in deciduous and mixed woods and places where migrants concentrate.

    : late Dec 1970 at a feeder in Bar Harbor Harbor.

    Miscellany: Both male and female Rose-breasts sing, and share nesting duties. It's one of just a few species reported to sing from the nest.
