: Breeds. but in open grasslands with the fields at the Crooked Road/ Norway Drive intersection supporting multiple pairs. Can be on islands with extensive open, grassy areas.

Miscellany: Savannah Sparrow is one of the most common passerines in North America. In our area, it will settle in any open, grassy area of a few acres or more and is especially common on the outer islands. Life for a small ground nesting bird is hard. On Kent Island, NB, not far to our east, about half the adults died each year, a number that could be approximated because island sparrows return with high faithfulness to their breeding sites. The distinctive pale race "Ipswich" Savannah Sparrow has been recorded a very few times.
