Summidmer: Breeds. from early May in deciduous and occasionally mixed woodland (especially if the conifer is Hemlock). Sieur de Monts typically supports a pair as do the oak forests on the Witch Hole Pond Loop.
Migration: mid May-early Jun with from early May, and again late Aug-late Sep with to mid Oct, in deciduous woods and places where migrants concentrate.
Miscellany: Scarlet Tanager, with the closely related Western Tanager, is the northern most representative of a very large, diverse and mostly tropical bird family. Scarlets return in to their roots, in northwestern South America.
