    Semipalmated Plover / Charadrius semipalmatus

Migrant: mid May-mid Jun with most records from the with beaches or mussel bars exposed at low tide. - late Jul-early Oct on beaches, mud flats and exposed mussel bars, with a peak mid Aug-late Sep and from mid Jul and to early Nov.

Miscellany: Like many plovers and their allies, adult Semiplamateds leave their breeding grounds, two weeks to a month before their young. With the age related difference in the commencement of migration and the generally slower pace of the species’ southbound movement, they can be encountered in our area in fall over a span of three or more months.
