    Sooty Tern / Onychoprion fuscatus

: Aug 12, 1986 at Mt. Desert Rock and Aug 1, 1990 at Baker's Island, both following tropical storms and both adults.

Miscellany: Sooty Terns spend their first two to five year of life flying over tropical seas. They do not dive for food or rest on the water. Other than very occasionally resting on a sea turtle's back or a bit of flotsam, they're airborne most of the time...including when they're asleep, resting only half of their brain at any given time.
