: There are no breeding records, and none has been detected mid Jun-early Aug, dates when breeding might be inferred, but it seems likely that small numbers have bred, do breed or will breed in the future.
: but overlooked mid May-early Jun with from late Apr, and again mid Aug-mid Sep in grassy areas such as those at Schooner Head Road marshes and Sieur de Mont. Soras are essentially undetectable unless vocalizing, which they can do almost any time. There is a Dec 3, 1968 record of a bird picked up dead in Town Hill. If correct, it's best considered a late migrant.
Miscellany: For most of the year, Soras barely fly, perhaps every now and then a weak flutter across a narrow tongue of water, but when they need to fly, as when they migrate or change their homes due to drought, they're remarkably good at it. They winter commonly in Bermuda, an open water distance of about 800 miles south southeast of Boston, and some may continue all the way to Caribbean islands or even northern South America.
