    Swamp Sparrow / Melospiza georgiana

    : Breeds. early May-late Jul in fresh water marshes large and small. Skulking; most readily detected by voice.

    : mid Apr-mid May with peak late Apr/early May and from late Mar, and again mid Sep-mid Oct with peak early Oct and from early Sep and to late Nov. Prefers wet areas but, especially in fall, can be found with sparrow flocks in brushy uplands.

    : . Recorded six times, none with supporting data, on the MDI between the early 1970s and early 1980s and only twice since, in 2011 and again Jan 29, 2023.
