: in clusters of large deciduous trees, notably in towns and villages.
Miscellany: White-breasted Nuthatches regularly visit bird feeders during fall and winter, grabbing a single sunflower seed, their preferred food item, and disappearing into the woods. They wedge a few of these into a bark crevice and hammer out the kernel but many of them are cached throughout their territory for later consumption. They must have a phenomenal spacial memory.
