    Wild Turkey / Meleagris gallopavo

: primarily in open deciduous and mixed woods especially near human habitation.

Miscellany: Wild Turkey was extirpated from New England in the mid 19th century although it's unclear if they ever occurred as far north as our area. They were reintroduced into Maine in the late 1970s, with additional introductions in the early 1980s, and since then have expanded their range north and east.
