: Not confirmed as a breeder but a few seemingly territorial individuals have occurred early Jun-mid Jul, and it's a local breeder in alder tickets and shrubby wetlands elsewhere in Hancock and Washington Counties
Migrant: in shrubby wetlands and places where migrants concentrate mid May-early Jun but under reported as at present silent birds can't be separated with certainty from Alder Flycatcher. Only one confirmed record, Jun 4, 2022 in Frenchboro, Long Island, but certainly occurs with a migrationperiod like Alder, early Aug-early Sep.
Miscellany: Until the 1970s, Alder and Willow Flycatcher were considered the same species, Traill's Flycatcher, even though they had quite different songs. Research determined they each deserved full species status. You can hear the primary songs of both species, Willow here and Alder here.
