    Yellow-bellied Flycatcher / Empidonax flaviventris

    : Breeds. late May-early Aug in mature moist spruce/fir woodlands and bogs, where most often detected by voice. Multiple pairs occupy the Great Heath across the road from the Wonderland Trail.

    Migration: or more accurately rarely detected and widespread late May-early Jun and again late Jul-mid Sep.

    Miscellany: Yellow-bellied Flycatcher is one of the last boreal forest migrants to arrive from its wintering grounds in the rain forests of Central America and one of the first to leave. Some individuals remain here barely two months.
